Forty plus years ago, in my nursing career, back massages for all patients was part of the daily care. This is where I first learnt the benefits of massage. When my two boys moved out of the house, and after my husband of 28 years had a fatal heart attack, I went back to school and received my massage therapy license (both state and national) in 1994. My practice is strictly by referrals doing only outcalls. I became involved with the Texas Association of Massage Therapists at a Houston convention ten years ago when I signed up to be a chapter leader (meeting monthly for programs / networking. We have educated the public by donating many hours to local charities with chair massages and gift certificates.)
I started the massage program idea for the Memorial Hermann Hospital Systems, doing chair massages for the employees weekly for eight years, including the night shift. I worked with a chiropractor for seven years doing massages on the patients before their adjustment; he continues to refer outcalls. I have a contract with an agency and do weekly home massage for special needs children.
I have been on the state Texas Association of Massage Therapists board as a VP, Pres, and presently as Regional Rep. I am a member of American Massage Association, National Association of Nurse Massage Therapists, Association of Bodywork and Massage, and National Association of Massage Therapists. I am an Avon Representative, Nikken, Young Living and Cryoderm distributor. I belong to the garden club and the Tri City Women's Club, for whom I have sponsored their membership yearbook for the past eleven years. I am involved in my neighborhood as block captain and monthly patrol with the crime watch group. I love having my two grandsons nearby in Galveston. I play tennis at least four times a week and enjoy working in the garden.
